Nothing but charred rubble remains of a one-story frame house and its contents along Route 8, just south of Stewart Road, following a fire reported at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The house had been occupied by Joyce McKinnon and her daughters Lee Anne, 12, and Breanne, 10, but they and two of the girls' girlfriends were staying the night next door because McKinnon's mother was ill. The move likely saved their lives, New Manchester firefighters told them. Lawrenceville and Newell assisted with the blaze.
