CHESTER - A Wellsville woman is still in a Pittsburgh
hospital following a traffic accident early Sunday morning on
state Route 8.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff's office, Marcia
Parish, a.k.a. Marcia McKenzie, of Wellsville was transported
by helicopter to Presbyterian University Hospital in
Pittsburgh following the 3 a.m. accident.
A hospital operator later Sunday confirmed Parrish was
still a patient at the hospital as of 3 p.m. Sunday, but
further information on Parrish's condition was not available.
A press release from the Hancock County Sheriff's
Department also indicated that Parish was headed north on
state Route 8, about one-tenth of a mile from state Route 208,
when she veered left of center and collided head-on with a
vehicle driven by Chad Alan Lamp of Chester.
Units from [New Manchester Fire Department]* used the jaws
of life to extract Parrish from her vehicle. She was
transported to a landing site on Route 30 by Chester/Newell
Ambulance and was then taken to UPMC.
[Brian Speck, Wellsville, was a passenger in Lamp's vehicle ]+
and was transported by New Cumberland Ambulance Service to
East Liverpool City Hospital for minor injuries.
Lamp was examined by emergency medical personnel at the
scene and was not taken to the hospital.
